Nissan Patrol Y63 Scan is Here – And We’re Wasting No Time
The Nissan Patrol Y63 Scan is Here – And We’re Wasting No Time
The all-new Nissan Patrol Y63 has officially landed — and as expected, it’s a serious evolution from the Y62 we’ve all come to know and build around.
But while most are still admiring the new look… we’ve already rolled it into the workshop and started scanning.
Because when a new platform drops, time matters. And we’re not here to wait — we’re here to lead.
Breaking Down the Y63 Front End
From the moment you lay eyes on the Y63, one thing is obvious — Nissan has completely reworked the front end design.
This isn’t a minor facelift. This is a full rethink.
Straight away, a few key changes stand out:
-
Front mount cooler now sits right up front
-
Larger transmission cooler and increased ducting behind the bumper
-
Radar repositioned higher in the front end
-
Much more enclosed factory airflow pathways
All of this creates a very different challenge compared to the Y62.
Where we used to have room to work — especially around winch placement and airflow — the Y63 tightens everything up.
And that’s exactly where things get interesting.
The Biggest Challenge: Airflow & Cooling
One of the biggest talking points straight away is airflow.
At first glance, you’d expect the new design to improve cooling performance. But once you start pulling things apart and analysing the factory setup…
…it tells a different story.
With the factory bumper, mounts, and radar in place, airflow into the cooling components is actually quite restricted. In fact, it’s heavily reliant on plastic ducting directing air into very specific zones.
This presents both a challenge — and an opportunity.
Because when designed properly, aftermarket bar work could actually improve airflow, not reduce it.
That’s where our development process kicks in.
Why Scanning Early Matters
Getting a Y63 into the workshop early isn’t just about being first — it’s about doing it right.
We’ve already:
-
Completed a full front-end scan
-
Begun CAD development of new bar work
-
Analysed airflow pathways and component placement
-
Started working through winch compatibility and mounting solutions
This gives us a serious head start — not just in design, but in performance.
Because modern vehicles aren’t just about mounting steel anymore.
They’re about integrating with sensors, airflow, safety systems, and electronics — all without compromise.
Factory Design vs Real-World Performance
Looking at the Y63 front end, there’s a strong influence from modern luxury SUVs — even giving off some Range Rover-style design cues.
Clean lines. Closed-off sections. Sensor-heavy front fascia.
But when it comes to off-road use, touring setups, and real-world Aussie conditions…
That’s where factory design can fall short.
-
Limited airflow for sustained loads
-
Minimal protection for critical components
-
No integration for winches or recovery gear
-
Vulnerable lower sections
That’s exactly why properly engineered bar work matters more than ever on the Y63.
What bar work and accessories are we creating for the Y63 Nissan Patrol?
We’re already deep into development — and here’s what’s coming:
Bull Bar
Designed to integrate with the new front-end layout, while improving airflow, accommodating winches, and maintaining sensor functionality.
Rear Bar & Wheel Carrier
Touring-ready setups with strength, functionality, and load-carrying capability for long-distance travel.
Rock Sliders & Side Steps
Built for protection and practicality — giving you confidence on tight tracks and rocky terrain.
Bash Plates
Essential underbody protection to safeguard critical components when you leave the bitumen behind.
Engineering Around the New Radar & Sensors
One of the biggest shifts from the Y62 is the new radar position, now mounted higher in the front end.
And let’s be honest…
It’s not exactly in the most convenient spot for bar design.
But this is where experience counts.
Our goal is to ensure:
-
Full compatibility with factory safety systems
-
No compromise to radar functionality
-
Clean integration into the final bar design
Because modern 4WD builds need to balance technology and toughness — not sacrifice one for the other.

What Happens Next?
We’re not slowing down.
With scanning complete and early designs already underway, the next steps include:
-
Prototype development
-
Real-world testing
-
Final refinements
-
Production-ready solutions
And yes… teasers are coming very soon.
Built for What’s Next
The Y63 Patrol is shaping up to be one of the most exciting platforms we’ve seen in years.
New engine. New design. New challenges.
And we’re here for all of it.
If you’re planning to build your Y63 properly — with protection, performance, and touring capability in mind — stay tuned.
Because we’re not just reacting to the Y63…
We’re building what comes next.
